One day, I am going to write about how reading books, Instagram and travel blogs made me fall in love with travel. I am drawn to anything travel related now. I have not done much of traveling in all honestly but it’s something that I think about (a lot). However, this thought makes me appreciate places around me and explore them. My first trip outside Nigeria was to Benin Republic and most people rolled their eyes when I told them I was outside the country.
I can’t afford traveling to most of the countries on my bucket list now but I love the idea of penning my thoughts down and also working towards it. I am aware that these might not be the first places I will travel to but I like the awareness I have concerning these countries.
Ghana: There is a lot of Ghana in Nigeria, we are neighbours and I have gotten to see a lot of Ghanaian things in Nigeria especially through movies. I really do want to go to Ghana. It is one of those countries I hope to tick off soon. I don’t have particular places in mind but I love pictures I’ve seen from Jamestown in the capital.
Singapore: Blame Crazy Rich Asians for making me daydream of going to Singapore. I want to explore the food especially and probably make a stop at Joseph Prince’s church.
Paris, France: There was a time I constantly cradled the imagination of spending six months in Paris, going to a baking school there and learning French. I’ve watched couple of vlogs of Paris and I have seen pictures of different places and even literary hotels. Of course, hold a book to the Eiffel Tower and stop by at Disneyland.
New Orleans, USA: I used to watch a lot of shows/series, The Originals was one of my favourites and I was quite fascinated by the setting. I loved the rustic nature, the buildings. It is also where Essence Festival holds.
Venice, Italy: I saw a picture of The Bridge of Sighs, I imagined a picture there and was captivated. There are other places I’d also love to visit in Italy; Florence, Milan & Positano.
Rwanda: Rwanda holds so much story and I want love to experience that East side of Africa. I recently saw snippets of one of my favorites there. This is somewhere I want to go.
London: I have loved London for as long as I can remember. I think it started when I was passionately a fan of One Direction. It made me love the city and it has not waned since then.
Above taking pictures in these countries and sharing my experiences, I want these experiences to seep in, I want to experience life differently, I want to see wide, I want to fully comprehend that there is life outside my environment because I know these things but there is a different ‘knowing’ than reading from blogs or newspapers. There is a ‘knowing’ of experience. I want to live.
What are the countries on your bucket list and why?
