In a post I wrote last year, I mentioned how social media made me like framed walls/gallery wall, Café Jade has one. I liked the pictures of Café Jade I saw online and wanted to go there but I was not so keen on going there until a friend sent me a blog post about their Sunday brunch and I was game.
However, there were few changes on the Sunday brunch menu compared to what I saw online. First, I am going to say Café Jade is pretty.
Café Jade is a cafe, bistro that also offer catering services. It is located at 7 Caroline Atounah St, Lekki Phase I, Lagos. Opening hours: Café Jade is usually closed on Monday, Tuesdays to Friday – 10am to 10pm, Sunday- 11am to 10pm.
When we got to Café Jade, we saw some people setting up downstairs for art thingy and was disappointed because I somewhat came for the gallery wall (tears), but we were allowed to take pictures there (laughter) before we were led upstairs. While I was not excited we were going upstairs, I did not know what I was going for. The downstairs area also serves as a café where they serve tea, coffee and its kind.
When I got upstairs, I was amazed. The elegance of the space, it exuded subtle luxury, the chairs, art, golden mirror, and there was a copper thingy going on. Café Jade is gorgeous. My friend confessed that she would love to come back over again because she loved the space. We took pictures then placed our order.
Seeing the Sunday brunch menu at Café Jade was a surprise because it was totally different from what I saw online.
I requested for their regular menu on their Instagram, they sent me this:
PS: The regular menu will kick in after 4pm on Sundays. (👆🏿 that menu)
We were served our drinks first, it took about 30 minutes. I had the Berry Good Iced Tea which cost ₦2000, my friend had the bottomless drink ₦3000, you can alternate the drinks you get after you down a glass, they will keep refilling your glass for two hours. I enjoyed my drink and the cup it came in, loved it. It is a combination of blueberry, strawberry, lemon and cranberry.
I ordered the brunch special (Grilled Turkey, Jollof, plantains and fried eggs) which cost ₦4000, my friend had the fried chicken (buttermilk chicken tenders and waffles) ₦3000.
The brunch special was okay, I did not catch the special in it because it was just rice and plantain with fried egg and turkey. The turkey was the most disappointing for me, it was regular, it did not taste like it was grilled in my opinion. My friend like her waffles and chicken, she enjoyed it.
Things I liked about Café Jade
In my opinion, I hope the turkey could be more tasty, it would have made the experience better.
Café Jade is a gorgeous space where sassy frame words displayed downstairs tug your heartstrings. Café Jade is a space where the plushness of the upstairs area reminds you of something cozy and homely.
Would I go back?
I liked the space and my body would not mind a remembrance of its beauty. I would go back but eat something else.
What my friend had to say:
“You know I like that place and I enjoyed my food”
