Perseverance Is My Power

Instantly, I had this little thought in the back of my mind … maybe everything that happened in my life was for a reason. The neardeath experiences, my father giving up on my brother and me, my mother struggling to keep ends together in my childhood – all of it. I am strong. I decided to force myself to make it. After all, a person’s mentality can change the outcome of their life. I felt it all at that moment. God was in that room with me. I felt Him.

I was excited when the author sent me Perseverance Is My Power because I knew it was about her life although it is harder to review non-fiction, I was excited to read this.

Perseverance Is My Power is a story about Perceptual Plazz’ life. She writes about her childhood, family, education, athleticism and faith.

In this short memoir, Perceptual Plazz was able to capture my attention by her courage, she emphasized on the influence of a father (more of the lack of it) on an individual, she made valid points while also giving hope to her readers by detailing every storm she has been through.

I am unsure of Perceptual Plazz’ age but I am sure she is a young person and I know it is easy to start asking questions if a young person really has experienced enough to write a book but we all have a story to tell and Perceptual Plazz has a lot to tell.

In Perseverance Is My Power, there is a motivational pull to it, it inspires you and make you ask questions especially about the society.

Her story is that of someone that had a goal in mind and was wholly determined to achieve it. Hers is that of triumph and courage to move on. I liked how she was open about her dad and how she navigated feeling ‘abandoned’.

I felt the writer was very open in the beginning and towards the end it seemed kind of rushed, I understand that there are still chapters in her life she is yet to discover, I also felt she was not as open as she was at the beginning.

You know I cannot resist memoirs and people’s stories, I recommend Perseverance Is My Power,  it is short, easy to read, highly inspirational and encouraging. It is a 4/5 for me.
