Friday is now a day I look forward to because I get to celebrate someone I actually like. People have come to love this series so far. Thank you! It is my pleasure to serve you with something you enjoy. Happy International Literacy day by the way.
Today, we have a very good friend of mine. I think the first thing that drew me to him was his skin. You know growing up how we used to hear that people with dark skin are never good looking, it was with him the faultiness of that saying was revealed. I remember in secondary school, when he will show me his writings. The one that stuck was his ending of purple hibiscus. He is not a stranger here. Check my birthday message for him earlier this year here I love his name. It speaks to me in so many ways. Eyimofe- this is what I want
He is Okuwoga Eyimofe, spoken word artiste, poet, writer, mass communication. He owns a blog too.
-We want to have a deeper knowledge of who Eyimofe is…Tell us. Eyimofe is a growing man largely influenced by certain beliefs in God and Art.
-What is your favourite spoken words performance? What was it about? I have many favourites. What do you have to fear by Joseph Solomon, Board of Education by Propaganda etc. They are actually many. Instead I have many favourite spoken word poets (Joseph Solomon, Propaganda, Ezekiel Azonwu, Chris Webb)
-How do you learn grandiose words? Anytime I see them , I try to look for meanings. I also read dictionaries (almost rarely though).
-How often do you write? What is your favourite book? As often as I can. Purple Hibiscus by Adichie.
-What do you do when writer’s block slips in? Think, I do serious thinking at this point.
-Are you living your dream? Nope. I’m trying to live up to my dream.
-Is love your greatest inspiration? Nope. Words are.
-Why do you call yourself ‘beloved’? it takes its meaning from Eyimofe as my dad pointed out in a letter he wrote wrote to me.
-Who are those people that helped you in your writing journey? My dad, Olatunde Obafemi, Oyin Oludipe, LOUDMAG Group.
-What do you think about Funmi’s thoughts? Life has many restrictions. So, where a person can learn to express herself however she likes is liberating to know.
