In case I never mentioned it, Cassie Daves is a major inspiration of my Lagos exploration. When I was going through her blog, I sent a link of her review of Ofada boy to my friend. She suggested a visit for my birthday, it was a deal.
Ofadaboy is a representation of a family heritage founded in 2009 by Tobi Fletcher. It is located at 1, Mba Street, Tafawa Balewa Crescent, Adeniran Ogunsaya Surulere.
My friend and I got to Ofada boy late in the afternoon, it was serene and beautiful. We were confused at first because we did not know where to go, we asked an attendant (they were all dressed in African fabric) who directed us to a door. We did the most ridiculous thing, we knocked. When we opened, it was funny because people were eating and enjoying their meal.
We moved outside after talking to an attendant, the process of placing an order, actually getting the food, and even paying after eating took a while. There were so many things not working, there was no moi moi, no receipt after payment, no palmwine but the customer service was good.
We placed an order for Ofada Classic which was ₦1350 with a bottle of water ₦150 each. I enjoyed eating outdoor because we were few outside (except for the occasional flies that interrupted), I enjoyed the experience. The sauce wasn’t peppery, the package came with Meat (Assorted), Beef (Eran), Ponmo, Egg (Optional), Plantain. I would have preferred Ofada Premium because I love moi moi but moi moi was not available.
One of the reasons I was looking forward to going to Ofada boy was the aesthetics. It did not disappoint me at all! It is a beautiful place. In my opinion, the food was good. The aesthetics had me sold, I did not really consider the ‘food’ before going. It is relatively affordable and on the mainland (did I hear drumroll at the back?)
Ofada boy sells other varieties of food: swallow with different soups; Afang, Ewedu, White soup, Ogbono and others. You could also get their African small chops; asun, ebiripo, roasted Plantain (Boli) with gizzard kebab & BBQ fish & sauce among others.
If you need a cozy, aesthetically-pleasing, affordable, and nice restaurant, Ofada boy is your go-to.
Have you been to Ofada boy? If no, do you plan to visit soon?
